These semiconductor chips are the heart of a DC magnetometer probe. When a DC magnetic field is applied, a 1.3 mV/G typical voltage is produce which is proportional to the strength of the field. They also be used to make a very simple DC magnetometer… schematic included! It is possible to position 3 units orthogonally and link them in series to make a “3-axis” DC magnetic field sensor. The Hall-effect integrated circuit included in each device includes a Hall sensing element, a linear amplifier, and a CMOS Class A output structure. Integrating the Hall sensing element and the amplifier on a single chip minimizes many of the problems normally associated with low voltage level analog signals. High precision in output levels is obtained by internal gain and offset trim adjustments made during the manufacturing process.
